National Brain Research Centre (NBRC)

NBRC offers a Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. Students from diverse academic backgrounds are considered for this programme. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs. 25,000/- per month and for Senior Research Fellows Rs. 28,000/- per month.
M.Sc. (Neuroscience)
NBRC is one of the few Institutes in the country to offer M.Sc.(Neuroscience) degree. Students are provided a fellowship of Rs. 5,000/- per month.
Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
Candidates with at least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.
M.Sc. (Neuroscience)*

Offline :
Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, send a self addressed A-4 size envelope affixed with Rs. 22/- postage stamps to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). The last date for receipt of requests for hard copy of the application form is 15th February, 2016.
Offline applicants can submit the application fee by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. Send the Demand Draft and complete application form to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). Please write your name and course applied for on the back of Demand Draft. JGEEBILS/JEST candidates should write their Reference Code/ Unique ID No. also on the back of Demand Draft. GATE/External Fellowship Channnel candidates should write their GATE Roll Number/Fellowship award letter Number, the year of examination and its validity period on the back of the Demand Draft.

Application Procedure for Candidates Appearing through JGEEBILS channel
NBRC invites applications for admissions to the Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes through JGEEBILS (Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences) https://www.ncbs.res.in/JGEEBILS.Candidates for both Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes have to appear for JGEEBILS schedule to be conducted on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Candidates, who are appearing for JGEEBILS can apply for both Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programmes of NBRC. Please see this page www.nbrc.ac.in/Admission2016/eligibilty.php for eligibility criteria.
You will require the reference code for JGEEBILS examination while applying to NBRC, which you might have received on applying to JGEEBILS examination at https://www.ncbs.res.in/JGEEBILS.
The application can be submitted online or by post/courier.

Candidates who are eligible as per the eligibility criteria of NBRC for both M.Sc.(Neuroscience) and Ph.D. programmes, if interested, may apply, by filling separate online application forms (by using different e-mail id) / offline application forms and by paying requisite fee separately for each programme.
Application Procedure for Candidates with GATE Score (GATE-2015/GATE-2016)
NBRC will accept applications from GATE qualified candidates (with 85 percentile or more in GATE 2015/2016) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology and Instrumentation Engineering for its Ph.D. programme. These candidates should apply to NBRC with their GATE score. The application can be submitted online or by post/courier.For GATE information, see https://www.gate.iisc.ernet.in.
You will require the Roll Number of GATE examination which you might have received on applying to GATE examination while applying to NBRC.

JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) channel
Candidates have to appear for JEST schedule to be conducted on Sunday, February 21st, 2016. Candidates, who are appearing please see this page www.nbrc.ac.in/admissions2016.php for eligibility criteria.
You will require the Unique ID No. for JEST exam while applying to NBRC. You will get the Unique ID No. after applying for JEST exam at www.jest.org.in.
